Volkswagen has recently stated that it has gone for an agreement in principle with all the owners of the 3 liter cars that are impacted by the emissions Cheating Scandals. This announcement follows the month’s one billion dollar settlement with the authorities of the United States for close to around 80K vehicles in 3.0 liter category that involves the buyback, repairs and cancellation of the affected vehicles’ leases and supporting the firm in putting of the scandal behind it.
In one of the statements the firm stated that it came into an agreement and the District Judge of US – Charles Breyer had gone for a settlement approval to be ordered with the court by January End. Elizabeth Cabraser, the lead counsel for this plaintiffs in the class action suit, stated in the statement that the owners will be receiving a great compensation apart from an emission buyback or modification, based on the condition of the vehicle.
The popular Volkswagen agreed last year that it has set up the software in close to 11 million vehicles that were sold across the globe for circumventing tests for the emissions while enabling them to release close to forty times of the allowed amounts of nitrogen oxides while driving. In the month of October, Volkswagen finalized a super record of $15 billion settlement for the 2.0 liter Audi vehicles and Volkswagen, however faces a criminal probe by the US authorities which is pending and the case is on the cheating emission category.
